This Privacy Policy describes how your data is processed when you use the PoolBuddy mobile app (“the app”) and this website (together, “the Services”). We take your privacy seriously and process your data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2016/679 and applicable data-protection law.

1. Data controller

The owner of this website and controller of your data is Netknow S.L., Spanish tax ID (NIF) B83969907, with registered address at Calle Seseña 38, 28024 Madrid. For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, contact clopez@gmail.com.

2. Principles

The app is built around data minimization: it has no accounts, shows no ads and contains no advertising trackers or marketing profiles. Most of your data stays on your device.

3. Data we process and why

3.1. In the app

• Your pool data and readings (volume, sanitizer type, water parameters, tasks, notes) are stored only on your device. They are not transmitted to our servers.
• Location (only if enabled): used to fetch local weather. Your approximate coordinates are sent to the Open-Meteo weather service.
• Camera and photos (only if used): images of test strips, labels or water are sent to Google’s AI (Gemini) for analysis. We do not keep those images.
• AI advisor: your query text and your pool context data are sent to Google (Gemini) to generate the reply.
• Notifications and reminders are scheduled and shown locally on your device.

3.2. On the website

• Language preference: we store a technical cookie to remember your chosen language.
• Browsing data: the server may log basic technical data (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and operation.
• Communications: if you email us, we process the data you provide to handle your request.

4. Legal bases

• Performance of the service (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): processing needed for the app and website to work.
• Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): for access to location, camera and AI features, which you enable voluntarily. You can withdraw consent at any time from your device settings.
• Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): ensuring the security and correct operation of the Services.

5. Recipients and processors

We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for commercial purposes. To provide certain features we use providers acting as processors:

• Google (Gemini API) — image analysis and AI advisor. Privacy policy.
• Open-Meteo — weather information based on your location. Terms & privacy.
• Apple — app distribution and, where applicable, TestFlight testing. Privacy policy.
• Hosting provider — hosting of this website.

6. International transfers

Some of these providers (e.g. Google or Apple) may process data outside the European Economic Area. In such cases, transfers rely on the safeguards provided by the GDPR, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Retention

Your pool data lives on your device and is deleted when you delete a pool or uninstall the app. Images sent to the AI are processed only to generate the reply and are not stored by us. Contact data is kept as long as needed to handle your request and meet legal obligations.

8. Your rights

You may exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability by writing to clopez@gmail.com. As most of your data is only on your device, you can view, edit or delete it yourself within the app. If you believe we have not handled your request properly, you may lodge a complaint with your national data-protection authority (in Spain, the AEPD).

9. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. Communications with external services use encrypted (HTTPS) connections.

10. Children

The Services are not directed to children under 14 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. The current version will be posted on this page with its last-updated date.
