Tablets (trichlor)

Slow dissolving, ideal for keeping the daily level in a floating dispenser or the skimmer. They're acidic (lower the pH) and add stabilizer, so watch the cyanuric acid over time.

Granular (dichlor)

Fast dissolving, perfect to raise chlorine now or to shock. Also adds some stabilizer. Dissolve it spread out with the pump running.

Liquid (hypochlorite)

Acts instantly and adds no stabilizer (good if the cyanuric acid is already high). Bulky and shorter shelf life; raises the pH a little.

How to choose

  • Daily upkeep: tablets in the dispenser.
  • Shock / quick boost: granular or liquid.
  • If the cyanuric acid is high, use liquid so you don't raise it further.
  • Never mix types in the same dispenser or with other products.
